The 2016 SWC Miami will use the “old” quota and allocation system. For 2017, they’ll intend to adopt the new SWC format with limited quotas and qualifying regattas, but for 2016 the old system will be used for the following reasons; (1) contract with ISAF, (2) 49er, 49er FX and Nacra 17 World Championships in Clearwater, Florida in February 2016, and (3) SWC Miami will be the continental Olympic qualifier for North and South America, respectively.

Traditional format with qualifying groups (depending on fleet size) followed by gold and silver fleets and a final Medal Race. Opening Series: Monday through Friday with Medal Race on Saturday. Equipment Inspection: Friday, Saturday and Sunday prior to the event.
